Take the “Imagine” Journey
Written by Brad Stanhope
A friend of mine ridiculed me the other day while we were talking about sports. He accused me of being soft – sarcastically telling me that I was one of those “enlightened fans who are more interested in the journey than the destination.”
It sounds so hippy-like, but it’s a great plan as we go through the “Imagine . . . What God Can Do” campaign: Take the journey.
For a lot of us, it’s all about the bottom line. We’ve looked in the “Imagine” journal and know that on May 18th, we will be asked to make a pledge to help pay for our land and future building. We are already thinking about what kind of amount we can give.
And we forget the journey.
My point isn’t about sacrifice. God will speak to you about that. But I’d like to suggest that you take the journey – do the devotions in the “Imagine” journal, ask God to help you along the way, go through some of the assessment tests in the journal, talk with significant people in your life.
Imagine what God can do.
Here are two things not to do. Don’t wait until May 18 to make a decision and don’t make a decision now.
Take the journey.
God may speak to you about something totally unrelated to money – how you’re serving or where you are in your relationship with him. He may give you a creative way to give more. He may ask you to sacrifice something that’s important to you. He may bless you with something unexpected.
When May 18th rolls around, don’t regret that you didn’t take the time to listen to God and grow. Take the “Imagine” journey.
I don’t know where God will lead you, but I know he’s worth trusting on the way.
